England head coach Thomas Tuchel wasn’t thrilled with his side’s performance following the narrow win over Norway last time out.
In his post-match ITV interview, when asked about his team “suffering”, he said:
💬 “I never talked about suffering. We made life very, very difficult for ourselves today. The result is fantastic, we’re in the last four but I’m not happy with the performance, in every sense.
“The commitment is there, but we made life very difficult for us in how we played, in the way we played. Sloppy, not fast enough. We were lucky today.”
In his own interview, Jude Bellingham brushed off Tuchel’s criticism and heaped praise on his teammates.
💬 “Whatever. It was difficult out there. It was a tough shift. All the players have put in a very tough shift. So my thoughts and appreciation goes to the players who are out there who put in a great shift yet again.
“It’s character and perseverance. Even when things weren’t working, we found a way to win the game again. Whether it’s in 90 or 120, we’ll give everything we’ve got.
“Whoever was ready to come on, came on and smashed it. I’m so proud of this team, once again in a World Cup semi-final.”
